The English Short Mat Bowling Association (ESMBA) are committed to safeguarding all those who participate in our sport, ensuring they can do so in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment.
At the 2023 AGM, the ESMBA confirmed that, in line with guidance from Sport England, from the start of the 2028 season it will be a mandatory requirement for all ESMBA affiliated clubs to have a safeguarding officer.
"The Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) works in partnership with the National Governing Bodies (NGBs) of bowls to build a safe environment for young people and adults to enjoy playing bowls. All partners are committed to ensuring that support is available to every affiliated club so systems can be put in place to make bowls an enjoyable and safe experience for all. "
